Testimonials

I just wanted to share my experience with everyone with one goal in mind and that nothing is impossible in some situations with proper dieting an exercise in today’s society despite what some Physicians might say and how we are diagnosed when we present to a doctor’s office with our complaints. Approximately 3 years ago (September 2013 to be exact) I decided to get some life insurance coverage so my twins who are 12 years old presently would be ok if and when I passed on. I remember my insurance agent coming to my home to fill out the necessary paper for my insurance and of course blood work and a urine sample was also needed to rate my insurance. After my paperwork was completed and all my labs were processed, I received my monthly insurance payment, which seemed high for an individual that doesn’t smoke or drink is normally very active. When I asked my insurance agent why my monthly premium was so high, my agent told me that my insurance rating was 150 % and what ever was wrong with my blood work could not be changed as per the insurance company’s physician and if I had any further questions I should follow up with my primary care physician for more details with my lab results. I never followed up with my primary care physician nor did I follow up with the life insurance physicians who made the decision regarding my case because I had a very hectic life between working fulltime, managing my kids, commuting over 110 km one way to work etc. As time went by I remember feeling light headed at times, irritable, weak and just an overall weird feeling but I kept pushing on!! Between my bad feelings and my weight I felt it was fulltime that I made a lifestyle change and on June 2, 2016 after being so fed up with my health I decided to start my weight loss journey because I was approaching my 50th birthday and I didn’t want to feel miserable any more.

At my job I heard a lot of people talking Ideal Protein and how safe and efficient the diet regime was and their weight loss results were amazing!! I work in Oakville but I live in Fort Erie so I googled and found an Ideal Protein in my area and spoke with my diet coach who is soo amazing! Lindsay. I made an appointment with Lindsey for June 2, 2016 as aforementioned and when my appointment date came around I was mentally prepared to take on the challenges that I would now have to face to reach my weight loss goal of 50 pounds. Prior to going to my appointment with Lindsay, being a Registered Nurse by profession and knowing the importance of base line lab values, I decided to stop by a doctor at the walk in clinic to get some baseline blood work done just to what my lab results would show. After going to Ideal Protein and starting my diet a couple of days later I received a call from the doctor’s office regarding my lab results and the doctor wanting to talk to me. I went to the doctor, and the doctor who spoke to me said “based on your lab results you are diabetic so I’m going to give you a prescription for metformin” which is a diabetic medication that you take by mouth. I turned to the doctor and said “Doc is diabetes reversible is managed properly? and he said “no diabetes is not reversible”. I said “ok watch”, because I’m feisty like that, I shook my head and stunned left the doctor’s office. NOTE: the lab result that pertain to a person’s blood sugar level is AIC (a 3 month average blood sugar level) AIC levels below 5.7 is considered normal and my AIC level was 10.9 at the time so that would mean I have Type 2 Diabetes based on my results. The normal FBS (Fasting Blood Sugar Level) is supposed to be below 5.5 and my FBS level was 10.3, which was another indicator that I had, Type 2 Diabetes.

I kept doing my thing and dieting as instructed with the help of my coach Lindsay. When I lost 32 pounds I decided to go back to the doctor to have my blood work drawn again. After having my blood work done for the second time, I sat home waiting for the call again to review my lab results. After a week had gone by, I decided to call the doctor’s office myself inquiring about my lab results and why I hadn’t received a call to discuss my most recent lab results. RULE OF THUMB: when lab results are normal, you normally don’t receive a call from a doctor to discuss your results. I went to the doctor’s office in person because of course lab results cannot be discussed over the phone, and to my surprise I saw the same doctor who initially gave me the metformin prescription and told me I was diabetic. The doctor looked at my results and I said how is my blood work now? Doctor replied, “your AIC and FBS levels have gone down!! (AIC level was now 5.9 and FBS level was now 5.3). I said so what does that mean? Acting like I didn’t know what he was talking about and he said, “You no longer have diabetes. Wow!! You are a stellar patient! So I replied “now you see Doc that with diet and exercise diabetes is manageable right? And the doctor replied, “Yes you are right”. So my blood sugar levels had decreased significantly, literally half the number my values were when I started dieting and exercising to manage my diabetes.

I left the doctor’s office ecstatic!! On my home I decided to call my insurance agent. I told my agent that I would like to submit my most recent lab results to the life insurance company doctor because what ever they said could not be reversed pertaining to my lab results was obviously reversed. My agent immediately did her research, resubmitted my lab results to the insurance company doctor and after months and months of waiting the verdict came back which was that my life insurance rating is now at a regular rate and my payments have been decreased by almost $60.00 per month. So not only did I reverse my diabetes buy loosing weight and exercising I also was able to l change my life insurance rating.

In conclusion, in life we will meet some challenges along the way, both mentally and physically. Education, education, education is key regarding all illnesses in all cases. The more knowledgeable you are regarding your challenges the more favorable your outcomes can be. Not all sicknesses are reversible, but I can tell everyone first hand, based on my experience the last couple of years with my diabetic challenges, education and management played an important role in my life. To date I have lost 48.5 pounds and I have almost achieved my goal, which was to loose 50 pounds! I feel better, look better and most importantly I am diabetic free!!
Thanks Ideal Protein! And a special thanks to my coach Lindsay!! You are amazing!! and without your skills, education and time none of my success would have been possible!!

I wanted to share my journey so far with Ideal Protein. In August 2016 I was at my grandson’s birthday party and someone had taken a picture of me. I was shocked when I saw the picture as I couldn’t believe that is what I actually looked like. Does anyone ever really see what you truly look like when you look in the mirror?

I commute to work each day and for weeks I would hear about Ideal Protein on the radio (610 CKTB) and hear the stories; I finally decided to do some research and found that there was a clinic not far from where I live, Carlton Heights Pharmacy. They put me in touch with my coach Dianne and as soon as I talked to her I knew that I really wanted to try this program. I will admit I was skeptical at first; I have done so many programs and my last resort was going to be gastric bypass surgery which I was terrified to do. At the same time I ran into someone at work that had been on the program for a few months and I was amazed at how she looked and how she was feeling. That reinforced for me that I needed to try this program.

Fast forward to November 17th 2016 when I walked into the clinic and everything changed for me. And when I say everything changed believe me it has. Prior to that date I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and on 4 insulin shots a day plus meds, two BP pills and 2 anxiety medications. As of April 6th I am down to 1 insulin a day and my doctor feels that in the next two months as I slowly reduce it down I will finally be off all insulin and diabetic meds. I am no longer on BP medication and have reduced my anxiety meds down to one. My last AIC was 7.2 down from 10.5 at the beginning of November 2016. My doctor was shocked and surprised to see me and when I told her about the program and how it works she has been fully supportive. I have never felt better and the incredible part is that I don’t feel like I am missing anything. With the variety of options and drinks available I have been able to feel like I am having my little treats along this journey. My doctor was also happy to hear that this is a 4 phase plan and that I have a coach that I see weekly. And of course people are noticing my weight loss and there are now two coworkers that have joined Ideal Protein and the one has her husband and daughter now on the program as well.

And now to my coach Dianne – she is incredible. Her support, words of encouragement and guidance are what helps me when I am feeling a bit down. Trust me this isn’t easy but the health benefits and my happiness far outweigh any frustrations I may sometimes feel. I am thrilled to say I am down 70 pounds and even though I have a ways to go I know that with the help of Dianne and Ideal Protein I can do this!
